Nuclear Bomb's Birthday

gooney
This past Saturday, July 16, 2005 was the 60th anniversary of the first atomic bomb testing that occured in New Mexico.

More than just the 40,000 ft. mushroom cloud searing of the Earth and sky, the bomb set off a chain of events that led to the ill fated bombings of Nagasaki and Hiroshima. Thankfully thus far these are the only two nuclear bombs to ever be used in war against a populace. Hopefully that was the last. Unfortunately we are far from full nuclear disarmament and many nuclear weapons from that time are still in existence and even now more are being designed and built. Just think how many schools could have been built, diseases researched and cured, and people fed if those resources spend on nuclear weapons had been spent on more peaceful endeavors.

Happy Birthday Atom Bomb! May you never be used ever again.

I just don't know how you can do it. You know I have something to say about everything . I even enjoy public speaking. But put a tape recorder in front of me, or even worse, if I put a tape recorder in front of myself, I just freeze.

Had technical difficulties before, didn't realize you'd mentioned me in a podcast. : )

Yup there you are. Had to say something about our meeting. That doesn't happen every day. Honestly I've always sort of wanted to try radio. I actually laid the ground-work to produce a radio show (http://www.8thdaycenter.org/resources/radioshow.html ) but I had to leave the organization before I had a chance to actually be on the show. *sigh* That's life. I therefore do my podcast by phone.

Yes, the sound quality is terrible, I haven't written a script, and I can't edit in any music or anything so far so its rather shoe-string in nature but its better than no audio outlet ;).
